What if I've never been to therapy?
If that’s the case let me first say I’m proud of you and I’m honored to guide you through this process.
Starting therapy for the first time looks like this:
1. You reach out to me, we see how our schedules line up and pick a session time
2. You fill out an intake form that I’ll send to you via email
3. We will begin seeing each other for weekly, 50 minute sessions.Feel free to reach out if you have other questions, I’m here to help!
-
How do I know if you'll be a good fit for me?
You’ll know if we’re a good client-therapist fit after we have our first session. Many folks can tell after just one session, others between two and four.
If we don’t happen to be a good fit, I’ll send you a referral to another therapist you can reach out to.
-
What can I expect from therapy with you?
You can expect to enter a space in which you are respected and affirmed for who you are.
Therapy is a collaborative conversation in which we define and work toward what you want for your life. It’s important that you understand therapy is not me telling you what to do or that I hold a quick or magic fix for you. I’ll be by your side, but the work is ultimately yours.
Some sessions feel amazing, other days you leave feeling a little drained. Therapy is a process, but we’re in it together.

How much does therapy cost?
My rate for a for a 50 minute session is $150 for individuals, $175 for couples/partnerships, or families.
Typically folks come to therapy once a week, but we will decide together what makes the most sense for you. I also offer a sliding scale, please feel free to reach out to see if you qualify.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Do you accept insurance?
The short answer is no. However, I am an “Out of Network” provider, which means that depending on the insurance you have, I can provide you with a clinical superbill that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Before beginning our work together, please check with your insurance company to learn more about this possibility.

I don't live near your office. Can you still be my therapist?
Absolutely! I’m available to see clients in the state of California via telehealth. Unfortunately due to state licensing laws, if you reside outside of California I am unable to be your therapist at this time.
